Wideband extension
Last update: Jun 03, 2010Today, everyone speaks about HD Voice - the ability to support voice signals that are over 8 KHz. While there are systems that actually support it today, there are ways to improve the audio quality of legacy systems that don't support HD Voice at all. This is done by extending an incoming 8 KHz signal to 16 KHz or higher by trying to generate the missing higher frequency components. Although this will not lead to the same quality as a true wide band signal, it can improve the user experience, especially in non homogenous conferences where some participants are using wide band audio and others not.
