Voice Activity Detection (VAD)

Voice activity detection (or VAD for short) is a technique used to determine thepresence or absence of human speech in an audio sample.

The main uses of VAD is in speech coding and telecommunications, where it can facilitate speech processing as we;; as be used to deactivate some processes during non-speech areas in an audio session.

Voice activity detection is usually language independent.
