LTE, or Long Term Evolution, is the next generation cellular network, which is sometimes marketed as 4G.

The main difference between LTE and previous cellular network architectures is the fact that it is an all-IP network, with not circuit switching capabilities.

Voice calls and SMS services over an LTE network are also done over IP, using a specification known as VoLTE.
