An IAD is a CPE device which connects to a service provider's network through links such as DSL connections or cable networks.

It serves as a telephony adapter, providing one or more simultaneous voice connections by terminating the provider's VoIP infrastrucuture at the home or office.

RADVISION's Multimedia Terminal Framework is especially suited for use in IADs, providing termination of SIP sessions.
